Shipping and Returns

KP Ground Service shipping is the standard speed of shipping for all orders. We do our best to ship all orders out as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours. Please email or call us as soon as possible to upgrade to overnight, 2-day, or 3-day shipping. We are not able to upgrade the shipping speed of an order that is already on the way to you. 

The rates below apply to all KP Ground Service shipments within the contiguous United States, and exclude Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. Shipping costs for addresses in Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico are comparable but must be calculated as a “Quote” by our staff. You will then be notified of the cost, and provided with an option to pay for the quote afterward. At this time, shipping calculations for these states cannot be done automatically during checkout.

We carry over 100 different colors of watercolor paint! Whether you are gradually growing your collection of our paints, or replenishing your inventory of favorites, we want to keep your shipping costs as low as possible. No matter how many pans of watercolor you order, the shipping cost will always be $5. Free backorder shipping for any watercolor pans in your order which are not in stock! They will ship separately with no additional shipping fee.

Calculated shipping cost is based on weight and shipping address. This cost will be automatically calculated for you in our online checkout. If you are placing your order by phone, we will calculate the shipping and notify at the time of taking your order.

Shipping Rates - Outside the United States

You can submit a ‘Quote’ request online, by email, or by phone. 

There may be restrictions on importing specific products to your country. We will notify you of this when providing the quote.

All prices quoted are given in USD. We strive to offer you the lowest possible shipping rates for international shipping quotes.

Product Availability

It usually takes 3-4 weeks for sold-out products to be restocked. Product availability is not indicated on our website. Most of the products we sell are imported from Germany to our store in New York City. We order popular products in advance, but sometimes things sell out well before our next store shipment is due to arrive. Some products have limited availability due to the nature of their production. For these special items, the wait time may be longer than 3-4 weeks. We cannot guarantee the wait time or availability of any item.

If you need the status of your order, shipping cost, tracking number, or any other details of your order, please reach out to us at info@kremerpigments.com.

If you are shopping in our NYC store, you may pre-order items that are not in stock, with or without payment. If the item is not prepaid, we will notify you when the product is back in stock, and reserve it for you for up to 7 days. If you have pre-paid for your item, we will hold it for up to 30 days. If your order is not picked up from the shop within these periods, your order will be refunded (if prepaid) and we will restock your reserved item. You will get an email notifying you of this. 

We cannot guarantee the wait time or availability of any item, though we will do our best to keep you updated about the status of your order.

Backorder Policy

Product availability is not indicated on our website. Products that are currently available will be shipped immediately. Products that are not available (that total over $20) will be automatically backordered. Backordered items usually arrive within 4 weeks. When you place orders by phone, you will be notified of the availability of your requested items at that time. Missing items are still eligible for backorder if your order is placed by phone.

Backordered items will always be indicated on your invoice. They will be noted as such, and listed as “0” in the ‘Qty’ column and “1” in the “Qty BO” column on your invoice. You will receive a separate invoice and tracking number for the backorder once it is shipped.  

If the missing item(s) total less than $20, the item(s) will be removed from your order list and you will be refunded for that amount. At our discretion, we may decide to backorder something for you even if it does not total $20--at no additional cost to you.

As long as your backorder is still pending (has not shipped) you are allowed to make changes to it. This includes: choosing a substitute product, keeping the funds on file as store credit, or requesting a refund if you need to cancel the backorder. Do not hesitate to contact us about the status of a backorder. We will be glad to talk to you about finding possible substitutes or giving you an update on the ETA of our store shipment!

If your backorder is still not available after 30 days, we will refund your payment and notify you of this.  

Special Orders

We stock the most popular sizes and a reasonable quantity of each product. If you need a very large size or a large quantity of something that we do not normally keep on hand, it may be considered a “Special Order.” This means that you need to order it at least 3-4 weeks ahead of the time you will need it. Depending on the cost of the Special Order, you may be asked to pay at 50% or 100% deposit on your order. We cannot guarantee the wait time or availability of any item, though we will do our best to keep you updated about the status of your Special Order.

Expedited Special Orders

If you have an urgent need for a product that is not currently in stock, you may request a quote for expedited shipping. This means that we will first find out if the item you need is available from our supplier (Kremer Pigmente) in Germany. After we confirm the availability, we will provide you with a quote for the cost of expediting your order. This cost depends mostly on the weight of your order. After confirming the availability, the estimated time when we will receive  it is between 3-7 business days. The expedited order will be delivered to our shop, then we will ship it to you as soon as possible.  Expedited shipments are made at our discretion and cannot be guaranteed.

Please note that the timelines above are estimates. We are doing our best to provide you with updates on your orders and inquiries as soon as possible, but we cannot get to you fast enough as we remain an unessential business sheltered-in-place by mandate of NY State. 



Please note that designated HazMat products can only be shipped within the Continental U.S.

Some products designated HazMat might incur additional fees when the quantity surpasses a certain limit. For more information, please contact us. Otherwise, we will ship via the lowest cost possible.
